Say Like a Local

About Say Like a Local

A dictionary tells you what a phrase means. This site shows how people actually say it.

What it does

Type what you want to say and pick a language. You get the most common way to say it, then other ways from formal to casual, each with a note on when to use it, plus a short conversation and the mistakes people often make. You do not need an account. Sign in only if you want to save phrases.

How to practice

Listen at normal speed, slow it down, or tap one word to hear it alone. Then record yourself and compare. Your recording stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

Where answers come from

Answers are written by an AI model and the audio is synthesized speech, so a mistake can slip through. If something sounds wrong, please tell us.
